Rinse the Basmati Rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
In a medium saucepan, heat the Olive Oil over medium heat.
Add the finely chopped Onion and minced Garlic to the pan. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the Onion is translucent.
Stir in the Ground Turmeric, Salt, and freshly ground Black Pepper, cooking for another minute to release the flavours.
Add the rinsed Rice to the pan, stirring to coat the grains with the spice mixture.
Pour in the Water and bring to a boil.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pan with a lid, and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the Rice is tender and the Water has been absorbed.
Remove the pan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes to allow the Rice to steam and become fluffy.
Fluff the Rice with a fork and garnish with freshly chopped Coriander, if using.
