Craft an authentic margherita pizza in your kitchen with our fun, easy guide. Follow our steps to produce a pizza with a perfect balance of flavours, from the tangy tomato passata to the savoury mozzarella, all topped off with fresh basil.
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast and salt. Add the olive oil and warm water, then mix until it forms a dough.
Knead the dough for 10-15 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place it in a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Leave it to proof for 1 hour in a warm place until it has doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to 220°C. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired size and thickness.
Spread the tomato passata over the pizza base and sprinkle with garlic. Add the mozzarella cheese on top and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove the pizza from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Slice and serve hot.
